Me and my twin brother are trying to engage better using board games since we were kinda into them some years ago. We started with Settlers of Catán and Jungle Speed played in anime conventions and realising there were interesting board games that were more than the usual Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, and more that are like kids toys.

Tabletop Simulator is one of the best we've made and we're willing tom discover more board game thanks to Tabletop Simulator. You know any game that works well in TTS for two players? Better if the duration of a game doesn't go over half an hour. Thanks in advance.

I really enjoy Carcassonne. I play it a lot with my partner.

Don't know if there's a good mod or not but Pixel Tactics is a cool little game inspired by srpgs

We played it and while we know it's good, it can be extremely complicated and slow in the latter rounds. We're not precisely fans of Carcassonne.

Ah, fair enough. Just getting into tabletop games myself, so I don't have any other suggestions just yet. Hopefully you can find something you like. I think there was a thread about tabletop games that had a lot of recommendations. Let me see if I can find it.

Most of the good ones you would need experience playing irl to know the rules as all the 'ports' i've seen people put in the workshop aren't scripted to the extent an official video game version of a game would be (even scripted Catan isn't as automated as the phone app). but, here are my suggestions of great board games and card games:
card games:
smash up - think simplified magic the gathering, but pop-culture tropes (3+ player)
android:netrunner - probably the prominent way to play? (2player)
Dixit - simple, but more fun/creative apples to apples (best at like 5player)
Epic Spell Wars - haven't found a definitive one on TTS, but you build spells and it's crude and crass (3+ player)
Quiddler - scrabble, but cards and probably the easiest to get going with little knowledge (2player+)

board games:
Betrayal at House on the Hill - complex and varied with scenarios to play out(best at 4-5player)

I was going to suggest more board games, but they are literally so cumbersome being on TTS.
I'm having a hard time thinking of good 2player games though, sorry.

patchwork is how I generally ease people into playing the game because the controls can be unwieldy to some

The Quacks of Quedlinburg has some really good automated versions on the workshop, and that games a fun push your luck that's really easy to get into

Cosmic Encounter is just an amazing game (it's dlc, but there are some automated versions after you buy it)

If people are new to the game, I'd take the tabletop simulator dlc version of Scythe over the standalone app version. It's much easier to learn and make sense of when you see how all the components lay out as it was done very intelligently and intentionally.

Edit I typed this whole thing up and then reread the op to see I somehow missed they wanted short two player things... Well none of those are great for two players but I'm not gonna waste my 3 minutes of typing so I'm leaving them up and encouraging you to drag more friends into your tts circle!

Hive and Stratego were the last two two player board games I played on tts. Those would probably be good!

For many years I've wanted to get into Twilight Struggle but have never gotten the chance! Might be a bit long and complex for what you're looking for though.

Twilight Struggle is certainly not what he is looking for. It is an amzing game but also very long and pretty heavy.

I played Star Wars: Outer Rim with 2 players last week and it was pretty fun, much easier to win than with 3-4 players though.

Veiled Fate is also really fun and pretty easy to pick up. Great art/aesthetic too.

I really liked the Xbox live arcade version of Carcassonne. I think games that require counting up a final score at the end work well in this format because all that's done automatically and it really speeds things up.

I think there's a straight up steam version of the game out there with slightly different rules?

FAKE EDIT: just googled, looks like it's in limbo. Awesome game though, I am pretty sure there's a TTS mod out there l. L99 will sometimes commission them.
